Hello
Hello! My name is Claire Edgington, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) at Reflections Counseling & Wellness. Originally from Buffalo, NY, I ventured to North Carolina to complete my master’s degree at East Carolina University and now live in South Jersey. I hold licenses in both NC and NJ. I enjoy running, spending time with loved ones, and frequenting Jersey’s local beaches to collect shells and soak up the sun.
My Story
To quote Esther Perel, a relational expert, therapist, and author, “The quality of your life ultimately depends on the quality of your relationships...”. This statement highlights the significance our relationships have on our lives and perceptions of ourselves and the world around us. It is through this lens that I find passion in supporting individuals, couples, and families in achieving their therapeutic goals.
As a systematically and relationally trained therapist, I support clients in exploring the complexities and contexts of their lived experiences. Through this lens, clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their internal processes, and their relationships.
My therapeutic approach is based in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Attachment Theory, in which I also integrate tools from Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy. I’m passionate about using somatic tools to promote emotional regulation, self-understanding, and to help nurture change. Noticing and understanding one’s body-mind connection can be a powerful tool in self-exploration and managing how we show up in our relationships.
My areas of practice are focused in working with anxiety, depression, self-worth, boundaries, life transitions, inner child work, and stress/conflict in relationships. I especially enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ populations. I’m additionally passionate about providing services to those who identify as or practice polyamory/CNM/ENM.
